This month B. toffee is celebrating its 10 Year Anniversary! 

Founder Betsy Thagard began her journey in the confection world many years prior to the launch of B. toffee. Thagard enjoyed making handcrafted and unique toffee for family and friends. She was soon urged by them to share her delicious creation with the world, and she did. 

Hard work and determination are traits that Thagard was known for having. She began working at a local McDonald’s at the young age of fifteen, and became an assistant manager at the age of seventeen. Success followed where she lead. This time was different though. Thagard’s youngest child had just left for college, and she would be starting a company of her own, embarking on a new journey in the business and confection industry. 

B. toffee launched in October of 2009, and has been growing continuously ever since. To celebrate the company’s 10th anniversary, B. toffee and A Market will be serving a specialty anniversary toffee cookie and ice cream sandwich. The ice cream sandwich is comprised of B. Bits in both the cookies and ice cream, and then rolled in toffee bits again. It’s truly toffee heaven! 

A Market’s mission is to inspire the local community with a spectacular experience through their food, passion and culture. Their mission inspired Thagard as she began to pave her way in the confection industry while still giving back to her community throughout the process. Their similar passion’s drove Thagard to reach out to A Market in hopes to collaborate. A Market became B. toffee’s very first client, and remains a valued client today, truly coming full circle ten years later. 

Giving back to local charities and nonprofit organizations through our B. Giving Initiative is of high importance to both Thagard and the B. toffee team. We support a variety of causes in hopes to make the world a better place; Ronald McDonald House, Orangewood Foundation, Court Appointed Special Advocates of Orange County, among many others. The Alzheimer’s Association is an organization the B. toffee team holds near to our hearts.

Thagard’s late father, Dr. Robert (Bob) Stevenson suffered from Alzheimer’s disease. He chose to participate in clinical studies during his lifetime and later donated his brain to science to further research with hopes to find a cure. B. toffee is a proud sponsor of the Alzheimer’s Association and recently participated in the Walk to End Alzheimers at the Great Park in Irvine. The B. toffee team worked to spread awareness, raise funds, and honor and remember Bob. On behalf of Thagards father, a portion of the anniversary recipe proceeds at A Market will benefit the Alzheimer’s Association as we work to continue to give back and support important causes.
