October 16th, National Bosses Day, is a day completely dedicated to all employers. The concept was developed by Patricia Bays Haroski in 1958 and officiated in 1962. She had hoped it would give employees an opportunity to show their appreciation to their bosses and supervisors for all the hard work they do that often times goes unnoticed. Additionally, this day allows opportunity to improve the liaison between employers and their staff, recognize those in supervisory and management positions, and show gratitude towards those who support staff with their careers.
There are many ways you can show your gratitude and it doesn’t have to break the bank unless you want it to! A simple card signed by staff members is a sincere way to say “thank you”. Handwritten notes are more personal, and often reflect a higher level of effort and sincerity. Another option is to give a gift; gift card, gift basket, flowers, or a dessert. Multiple employees can pitch in to a group fund to keep the budget low while still providing a unique and thoughtful gift that is sure to impress.
