This year we wanted to give a shout out to a special woman who has made big impacts that led to the development of B. toffee. Founder Betsy Thagard’s mom played an enormous role in the encouragement process that led to the launch of B. toffee. Thagard considers her mother her biggest role model, in the kitchen and outside of it. She grew up watching her mom and Yia Yia whip up Greek dishes in the kitchen and learned important details about both cooking and entertaining from these experiences which were then passed down to Thagard and her sister. 

These two women in her life had unknowingly sparked a curiosity in culinary that was instilled in Thagard from early childhood forward. Later in life Thagard became a mother of her own to her two precious children. Thagard began perfecting a toffee recipe with an unforgettable consistency, texture, and taste that many around her claimed was…Simply the Best. 

B. toffee started as a sweet treat for gifts and road trips with her mom and sisters and eventually evolved into a successful business after close friends and family urged Thagard to share her creation with the world. Prior to the official launch of B. toffee,Thagard had the extremely rewarding opportunity to stay at home with her kids and loved every minute of it. After her last child had left for college, she aspired to do something that she could call her own. Through her experience of starting a company in her late 40’s, Thagard realized that it’s never too late to follow your passion and pursue your dreams, so she did. The company B. toffee has generational connections between mothers, daughters, and a passion for cooking that has been wildly inspirational and successful.
